Going into nonprofits

I want to make a living helping people through nonprofit organizations. My foremost is literary nonprofits. I would like to get back into publishing of magazines and books.

There is someone in Chinatown named Susan Lee whose family had operated the old Atlas Cafe who is now interested in forming a Chinese school. It will be a school where people can contribute money to for their children to keep their Chinese heritage by learning the Chinese language.

The Lee Family already had a 501(c)3 tax-exempt status and I would like to form a subordinate nonprofit that is a school. Since it can have more than one subordinate, I can have two of my own under the Lee Family umbrella - one for Chrysanthemum magazine and one for Goldfish Press.

For the school, we are going to solicit funds from parents and give scholarships to the children.

For my two subordinates, I will have a budget of under $25,000 a year and all will be operated by volunteers. This will keep me busy for a while.
