Finding facts and regulations about nonprofits

First thing is that I need someone with a credit card to pay the Secretary of WA State to form my two nonprofits - one is magazine publishing and the other in book publishing. Each has a value of $25,000 totaling $50,000. I cannot pay myself any money nor can I pay anyone any money for running the nonprofits because they have to be volunteers.

I could have Betty form the organizations and get a credit card for me as well as the one she gets for herself for the nonprofit corporation. Let's put a limit on it. Let's say $5,000 limit. This way we can alleviate a cash-flow problem.

Next I have to calculate how much money I need to live with Susan. I think Susan will stay with me now. I need to retain my SSI and my Medicaid. I need to have enough to pay rent and the necessary expenses of being alive.

I got these new applications in the process with the Secretary of WA State and I haven't finalized them and so I could add Betty onto them, and as a matter of fact, have her be the boss. And so let me know figure out how she can be the boss while she lives in Wisconsin.

Going into nonprofits

I want to make a living helping people through nonprofit organizations. My foremost is literary nonprofits. I would like to get back into publishing of magazines and books.

There is someone in Chinatown named Susan Lee whose family had operated the old Atlas Cafe who is now interested in forming a Chinese school. It will be a school where people can contribute money to for their children to keep their Chinese heritage by learning the Chinese language.

The Lee Family already had a 501(c)3 tax-exempt status and I would like to form a subordinate nonprofit that is a school. Since it can have more than one subordinate, I can have two of my own under the Lee Family umbrella - one for Chrysanthemum magazine and one for Goldfish Press.

For the school, we are going to solicit funds from parents and give scholarships to the children.

For my two subordinates, I will have a budget of under $25,000 a year and all will be operated by volunteers. This will keep me busy for a while.

Organization meeting and planning

Chrysanthemum Literary Society is interested in having its first organizational meeting and tea very soon. Please email nooknoow@aol.com if you care to come to a meeting and join the organization as a board member or an officer of the organization. Of course, you can be a laid-back ordinary member as well.

We are planning a periodic reading series. We also welcome musical and dramatic events.

Whatever your experience and talent, you can help us and yourself to grow.

Or call Koon (Koon Woon) at (206)-329-5566 and give your input, advice, and brilliant ideas.

We aim to be multicultural and we don't want to leave anyone out in the cold.
